For years, residents have raised serious concerns about the intersection of Waite Road and Cross Road. Locals know this junction is confusing, congested, and increasingly dangerous — particularly during peak traffic times.

Despite studies and ongoing discussion, nothing meaningful has been done to improve safety.

This intersection experiences regular near misses, congestion, and unsafe turning movements, putting drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists at risk.

Key concerns raised by residents include:

• Confusing traffic movements and turning lanes
   
• Congestion and vehicles blocking the intersection
   
• Frequent near misses and unsafe manoeuvres
   
• Safety risks for pedestrians and cyclists
   
• No clear long-term plan to fix the intersection
   

Residents are rightly frustrated that talk has continued for years without action.

Waite Road connects key parts of our community including local schools, the Waite campus, and surrounding neighbourhoods. With growing traffic volumes, the risks at this intersection will only increase if nothing changes.

Our community deserves roads that are safe, efficient, and properly planned.

As your Independent voice for Unley, I will push the State Government to finally deliver a solution for this dangerous intersection.

That means:

• Advocating for a proper safety review and redesign of the intersection
   
• Ensuring local residents are consulted in any proposed changes
   
• Pushing for real funding and a clear timeline for improvements
